And while I’m at it, fuck UPS too. And fuck Amazon. Sure, they’ll replace it, but they won’t ship it any other way than UPS and they can’t/won’t tell UPS to hold it for a signature. I said to the humanoid robot on the phone, “Well, as long as Amazon is happy to continue replacing the item, you can continue to ship it via UPS.”
Also, I think this is my new favorite GIF.

have you talked to an actual person at amazon about it? Pretty sure they have the ability to change your default go to shipper and options. I haven’t had the issue, but I have heard stories that they’ll change things for you

It confuses me when people complain about UPS as it’s the only shipper in my area that you can actually count on

yeah, everytime we have to use fedex something gets fucked, we bought my son a toy for christmas on targets website and they use fedex which somehow meant theyd deliver it to a target store then forgot which target store they delivered it to, then when they figured out which store the store couldnt find the package.

Seriously. FedEx isn’t too bad for me, but USPS is just awful. EVERY TIME I place an order from Amazon and it touches the hands of USPS in any way it’s screwed up. I’ve never gotten a Prime order via USPS in two days. Or they just flat out disappear.
The last time I called the post office and they (post office) told me they delivered it to someone else. So, if you know you delivered it to the wrong person why did you?!

I’m a stay home dad. I’m usually home almost all day every day. UPS delivered this on Sunday, when I was at church all morning and out to dinner until 4:00.

This may help in the future...
I set up an account with UPS. In doing so, I could specify where they should put my packages...so all my UPS packages get delivered to the back porch now. Even cooler, my gf isn’t on my account, but because the driver is used to leaving my stuff on the back porch, her packages get delivered there too.
For the past couple of years, we’ve had a lot of package theft, especially in the winter. So far, we’ve been pretty lucky.

I’d rather have things come by USPS. They’ll at least put it in my mail locker on the street, or the postman, who I know, will deliver it to my door and make sure he hands it to me. Many years ago, I ordered a $2,500 dollar trumpet and told the seller to mark “leave in apartment office” on the package, which they did. UPS guy left it outside the door of my apartment and forged the manager’s signature on his delivery sheet. Fortunately, my wife came home from work and found it safely. I called UPS to complain, and they said, “Well, there’s not much I can do about that. I’ll have to talk to the union steward.” So, yeah, fuck UPS.

Yeah, I’m going to look into this. Or have it delivered to my wife’s office. But this was delivered on a Sunday and we were out all day.

I had, and continue to have, an issue with whatever asshole does USPS for Amazon on Sundays (they aren’t my normal carrier, who is great). If the package doesn’t fit in the mail box, the asshole just drives right by and says the package is undeliverable. He doesn’t even beep, let alone come to the door. I don’t even care about Sunday deliveries, so not getting the package doesn’t bother me, but it pisses me off to know end that this lazy fucker then goes back and says it’s my fault that the package wasn’t delivered, when every other mail carrier in my entire life has been capable of beeping or leaving a package.
I emailed Amazon customer service to complain and they’ve updated their system so that it defaults to UPS/FedEx and only uses USPS when no other option is available (unfortunately, that doesn’t fix Sunday deliveries). They also always comp me a month of Prime every time I complain, which means that dipshit Sunday carrier has saved me $50 over the last six months.

I called them as soon as I found out that it had been delivered 3 days ago. Talked to a human who was able to process a replacement but utterly unable to help with different shipper or any other shipping instructions. I suppose I could have asked for a supervisor. My guess is that Amazon and UPS are so damned big now that they just don’t care about lost/replaced items, and consider it just CODB.

USPS likes to just keep the package and then not leave a pink slip in my mailbox telling me they have it.

Not a bad idea. Thing is, I keep a padlock on my side gate. I figure that if somebody really wanted to get into my back yard they would, but it would be easier to go into my neighbor’s yard, since his gate is right next to mine and he doesn’t lock his. Normally, I’m home during the day, and this isn’t a problem. But it has been getting worse in our neighborhood, and everywhere, for that matter.

Interestingly, my USPS guy is great. Since we live in the county, it’s a contract company that delivers, so they drive USPS trucks but don’t wear the uniform. I’ve gotten to know him, and he’s great about making sure I get my stuff. UPS, on the other hand, just doesn’t give a fuck.

UPS left a $2500 trumpet outside my apartment many years ago, even tough I left instructions for it to be left in the office, and they forged a signature on the delivery slip. Bastards.

You could sign up for UPS Mychocie and get a notification/time window for delivery. Not an ideal fix, but it may be a slight improvement.
UPS/USPS delivery was so bad when I lived in NYC that I had every package delivered to work. The boss felt the same way so he didn’t care.

One of our major post office branches keeps sending my company mail for another company with a similar name but an address 5 miles away and a totally different zip code. Usually checks, too. My envelope markups are getting more and more rude.

If they can’t, you might also ask them to just hold it at one of their delivery centers for pick up. I did that the last time I ordered a MacBook.

Sign up for UPS My Choice and you should be able to have them hold it at a UPS distribution center.
Also check to see if there are Amazon Lockers in your area where you could go pick it up instead of having it shipped to your house.

Is there a UPS Store or UPS Access Point near your place? You can request UPS change the delivery destination to your local UPS Store/Access Point via their website, they even ask for Photo ID at the Store.

not really a fair comparison if its a package that goes from ups into the hands of USPS for local delivery. Order something “fast and free” from ebay through USPS, faster than Prime and im not exaggerating. Any change of hands is going to cause problems

In the past, whenever a customer has had issues with a carrier, Amazon has been very quick to change the internal account preferences (or however they do it) to ship via the customer’s preferred carrier. Guess they aren’t doing that anymore, that sucks.
Stapleface

I’m just saying in general. I’ve had Prime packages with the carrier only USPS and they’re always screwed up. I’m just saying that, in my experience, any time the USPS is involved packages don’t arrive on time, or at all.

definitely a factor of location too but I always have good luck with prime but also with USPS through ebay. USPS through amazon is rare in my area.

The person I talked to, obviously at bottom of the customer service flow chart, was only helpful enough to place my order again and say it would be here on Friday. Perhaps I should have moved up a level in the organizational hierarchy. Oh well. It’s not time sensitive, but I was hoping to get the SSD installed this week.

possibly a supervisor or different department, but I remember reading something way back that they can change the default to USPS/UPS/Fedex. My area almost everything Amazon arrives USPS - I would argue that Amazon is saving USPS from going under
